What is a PSYOP?

The term is an acronym for Psychological Operation or when plural Operations. A tactic of psychological warfare.

Interesting PSYOP definitions:

• military actions designed to influence the perceptions and attitudes of individuals, groups, and foreign governments – sensagent

• Definition of psyops – military operations usually aimed at influencing the enemy’s state of mind through noncombative means (such as distribution of leaflets) – Merriam-Webster

• Psyops – psychological operations: the use of techniques that are designed to make an enemy or opponent confused or weaker – Macmillan Dictionary

• Psyop – Intelligence agency term for “psychological operation”. A government or corporate-sponsored operation, usually taking the form of a “terrorist attack” or “crazed gunman on a spree”, with the intent of panicking the public into demanding more police and laws inhibiting freedom.
