What they’re all almost obsessed with is cherry-picking through the Koran to find nasty and violent bits, and/or finding this or that questionable story on the background of Muhammed. When you point out that you can do exactly this same thing to the Bible and to Christian history–which, as a Christian, I acknowledge freely that you can do very easiliy–they either roll their eyes like it doesn’t matter or, even worse, bloviate that doing so is to “attack Christianity” (the irony of which utterly escapes them).

In that comment, Esmay was attacking Snooper, who had commented earlier in the thread. Esmay wants us to ignore the fact that the Qur’an was recited piecemeal, not as a coherent body of scripture. Allah’s commands are contained in clear verses, they stand alone and are to be believed and implemented.

Worse yet, those commands, and the Hadith which confirm them, are a critical source of  Sharia (Islamic l;aw). In my response to Esmay’s comment ,  I pointed out the Sharia and its basis in scripture & tradition.  Citing Al-Taubah 29 is not cherry picking, that ayeh is the basis of an important  ruling of Shria, a ruling which defines Islam as an aggressor.

Instead of cherrypicking the Qur’an & Hadith, turn directly to Book O.9 of Reliance of the Traveler, the chapter which reveals the Sharia law concerning Justice.  Seek the answers to this short list of questions: what is Jihad, what does the Caliph do, why, how frequently does he do it?  If you don’t have a copy, click the link above and use the Ctrl F  key combination to search for O.9.

If any doubts or questions remain, go to FOMI and read the wide variety of Fiqh, don’t overlook the quote from the Hedaya.

Any residual skepticism should lead you to Bukhari’s Sahih collection of Hadith, Books 52, 53 & 59, and 1.8.387, 1.7.331, 4.53.386, Abu Dawud 14.2526 & 23.3455.

Who are we to interpret the Qur’an? We need the expertise of a qualified Qadi. Fortunately, http://qtafsir.com includes a tafsir search engine for Ibn Kathir’s Tafsir. Look up the ayat cited in the previous paragraph.

The clincher for the terminally obtuse & recalcitrant: ROPMA includes an unordered list of the most egregious of Ibn Kathir’s Tafsir topics, linked to tafsir.com. [same text as qtafsir, but no search engine] The explicit wording of the titles should be sufficient.

…and as we can see by the comment from “Dajjal,” any idiot can cherry-pick through a vast and complex religion and find things to fit his point of view. It’s very much like reading literature from, say, a Jack Chick tract, or the loonies running the John Birch society.

Anyone who says there’s no such thing as Islamophobia, or that it’s a “nonsense word,” only have to read the pseudoscholarly “reasoning” of deluded people like this.

So which of the three I mention above is the “Dajjal” do you think: the militant atheist, or the perturbed Christian? I rather doubt he’s actually been to any Muslim countries, so that seems least likely.

Citation of Sharia is not cherry picking. Allah’s command to make war on “people of the book”  resulted in the conquest of Yemen, Egypt, the Levant, Spain and the Balkans. It also resulted in the attempted conquest of Italy, France and Austria. When we examine the Qur’an, Hadith, Sira and Fiqh, a  clear pattern emerges, a pattern of barbarian aggression which condemns Islam. Muslims & Dhimmis are willfully blind to that pattern, refusing to recognize it.  That Fiqh is behind the fire brand Imams preaching world conquest and the rioters whose banners proclaim world domination.

The phobia suffix  implies irrational fear & loathing.  In view of Islam’s 1384 year history of barbarian conquest employing terrorism as a battle tactic,  fear & loathing of Islam is rational and well justified.

• How frequently does he do it?
  • “Jihad is a communal obligation,” meaning upon the Muslims each year.

Dean Esmay, other apologists for Islam & the Dhimmis will never answer  those questions. They can only evade them and  attempt to shift attention from Islam to its critics.
